ABOUT ME

Merisa is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and Registered Art Therapist with experience and passion working with teens and adults, ages13-59. Merisa provides individual therapy, utilizing Humanistic, Cognitive-Behavioral and Psycho-Dynamic-Object-Relations theories and principles. As a Registered Art Therapist, Merisa also likes to include drawing and painting as an alternative non-verbal modality of self-expression to better understand one's emotional conflicts, develop social skills, improve self-esteem, decrease symptoms of anxiety, depression, anger and improve overall functioning.

Merisa has extensive experience helping and supporting clients manage their internal struggles from addiction, depression, anxiety, PTSD, low self-esteem, and relational issues. Therapy will consist of collaboratively exploring how these conflicts impact your life to gain an understanding of oneself and together, examine your thinking patterns, emotions, and behavior, and focus on helping you develop the insights and tools that can power long-term, sustainable improvement in your life.

Merisa received her Bachelor of Fine Arts with a minor in Psychology from Arizona State University, and went on to earn her Masters' Degree in Psychology, with a focus on Marriage and Family Therapy and Art Therapy from Phillips Graduate University, Los Angeles. Merisa has a history of working in hospitals & mental health clinics while working with clients suffering from both addictions and mental health issues. Merisa believes with self-awareness and skills, clients are empowered to create their wellness toolbox so that they can lead a life of fulfillment and wellbeing.

Therapy can help you get unstuck, make changes, and live a more fulfilled life.
